General Assembly Republicans shouldn’t expect a quick or easy resolution to differences over their congressional redistricting plan, with the backing of all 11 current Virginia congressmen, and a rival Senate Democratic map. Legislative Democrats say their plan to establish a second Democratic-leaning minority-influence district in Virginia instead of the single majority black district in place now won’t go down without a fight.

Figuring out for whom and even when to vote could be very complicated in Virginia this year, thanks to the current battle over redistricting.  A redistricting deal was vetoed by Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell last week, leading to the possibility the Aug. 23 primary could be pushed back again.
